Darling Daughters Dance with Daddy

Last night was the much heralded and anticipated "Daddy/Daughter Dance" at our club. Alexa and Daddy went last year (and had a fabulous time!); Sophia was able to join in the festivities this year!

The preparation for the dance included home-manicures and a hairstylist (me!) as well as some careful lip gloss preparation. When it was time to go, I was pleased to see that Daddy was as excited as his little princesses! He got all spiffy in a suit & tie and any girl would have been proud to be on his arm.

I definitely think that having been a single-parent for so long made Chris the most amazing dad...I still recall (when we were dating) when he complimented me on the type of braid I had in my hair. I was surprised that a guy would recognize (and call, by name) a fairly obscure braid-style (a herringbone) and asked how he knew? He had purchased a "hair style" guide so he could do Erin's hair when she was a little girl....awwww! He shows this same commitment to making his younger daughters feel so special and loved, which in turn, makes me love him more!

Ok, enough sap. Please enjoy a glimpse into a night out with Daddy!

Dancing with Dada

When my little family arrived home, they were breathless with stories about the night! The girls each received a corsage (which they'll pin on their memory-boards) and a little acrylic plaque with the date & event etched on it, and a heart-shaped Mylar balloon. Daddy was worn out from dancing with the girls, but they all had a fabulous time!! It's so important for our girls to feel cherished and adored; we want them to know how special they are, always.

  1. Lora,
This brought tears to my eyes. I was always Daddy's girl and danced on his feet all the time. Though I never got the opportunity for such a formal event. These girls are so lucky to have such a wonderful dad.

I have admired and been so proud of Chris over the years. He has always been such an amazing father. I remember all the things that he learned to do as a single dad, especially for his daughter. It wasn't just the things he had to do, it was the special things, like understanding the girl stuff - as you so eloquently pointed out with your story about the braid book.

As the years have passed, he's grown more and more into the most amazing dad (to all his kids) and husband (to my best bud)! There's a special place in all our hearts for ... I was going to say a guy like him, but I'm not sure there are any others quite like him...and in the everafter. He's a keeper! :)

Those girls will never forget that special night!

  2. Thanks, Tam. Your comment brought tears to MY eyes! I know you were your Daddy's girl (still are!), so your opinion on this means alot to me. I hope our girls never doubt how special and beautiful and precious they are to us; I hope when they choose a husband, that they are both able to find a man as loving, committed to family and devoted to them as their dad is to me. :)

  3. The three of them all looked so beautiful. I just wish we were in the same city so we could see them in all their glamour. But thanks for the pics. Love, Granny
