Driving through our neighborhood, one recent afternoon, Sophia called out to me in excitement. "Mom, mom, roll my window down...QUICK!" I looked back at her to see what was causing her alarm. Standing off the road were several men who appeared to be construction workers.
OH! I thought, she's concerned about those poor guys, working outside in record high temps without any source of water nearby. My little humanitarian, wanting to call out and wish those guys a "good day" or extend them some good will, to lift their spirits.
I smiled to myself, proud that I have raised such a compassionate, kind little person. "Sweetheart, what are you going to say to those men?" I inquired.
Indignantly she replied, "Those guys are just standing around, talking! I'm gonna tell them to 'Get back to work! Those houses aren't getting built!"
I suspect Sophia has a future in management.

Summer Fun
Our summer so far has been very memorable! Grandma and Grandpa R. came to visit in June and we had a great time, as always! We spent one day at Old Tucson and although it was about 109 degrees, it was a dry heat.
We've tried to stay cool as much as possible, which translates into weekly movies & trips to the Tucson Children's Museum. Sometimes Daddy even joins us!
Jack's first Fourth of July was also his One Month Birthday! We started out the day by participating in our town's annual parade, which was an early morning jaunt around the lake. We then joined Abby & Ryan at our friend's house for a great cookout & pool party to celebrate our country's independence.
Sophia and Mama had a fun day shopping with our future bride, Abby. Sophia is clearly relishing her role in their wedding and had fun trying on all of the flower girl dresses David's Bridal had in her size! Of course she chose the perfect one and is looking forward to showing it off (and her fancy dance moves) in a few short weeks. We finally decided that Jack was old enough to hit the club after he turned 5 weeks old...he was the cutest sunbathing babe there!
Jack continues to entertain and amaze us with his cuteness. I don't think any baby has had more kisses from older sisters...ever!
Jack-jack, as he's affectionately called, is a happy, smiling little guy. At 6 weeks old (and a little over 10 lbs), he coos & "talks", scootches all over his bed and rubs/pats mama's back while she's rubbing/patting his back. He is super snuggily and loves to be cuddled. He also seems to know that his meals are served in the bedroom upstairs...he'll be crying piteously while being carried up to mama, but as soon as daddy or Alexa reach the top stair, he stops crying immediately and smacks his lips!
He's growing so fast and to the delight of his big sisters, has extra-chubby legs and a double-chin. We're all head-over-heels with our little angel and couldn't be happier! We can't wait for our family & friends back home to finally meet Baby Jack in August, at the wedding & at Jack's baptism.
July is "Fun with Food Fridays" month at the TCM, where some of Tucson's most celebrated chefs teach cooking classes to the children. The girls have thoroughly enjoyed learning how to make a variety of dishes.
Our summer fun isn't over, not by a long-shot! There will be many more events & pictures to share; I'll try and find the time to keep the blog updated more frequently!
